The HOPE Candle

Pastor’s Andrew & Deidre lit the candle of HOPE…

Over the next few weeks, we’ll look at five themes – Hope, Peace, Joy, Love and Christ.  The five candles seen here represent these five themes.  The wreath represents the unity of the trinity, and the evergreen branches represent God’s everlasting, unwavering love for us.

In Isaiah 9, we read:

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned…For to us  a child is born, to us a son is given and the government will be on his shoulders.  And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Just like the people during Isaiah’s time waited for the messiah to come, we wait today for his imminent return.

Advent is a time of waiting.  We wait to celebrate the birth of Christ, and we await his return.  Until that day, we live for Jesus, sharing how he has changed our lives – sharing a hope for others to equally embrace.

We live in a great hope.  Lets live in anticipation, worshiping God, loving others, and serving those around us.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, we celebrate the Christmas and remember how you came to earth to save us.  You gave us hope – hope for a future with you. Help us share this hope with others and together your imminent return can be the blessed hope for everyone this Christmas. In Jesus name, Amen.
