On Dec 23rd Cyril and Yvonne Morgan lit the love candle…
We celebrate the love of Jesus!
God sent his Son to show us how much He loves us. In fact, He loves us so much that he was willing to lay His life down so we wouldn’t have to bear the cost of sin ourselves. In John we read…
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
Our salvation is not found in what we do; it’s found in how we accept God’s love for us. Society tells us love is only found when reciprocated – the Bible shows that God’s love is unconditional. We DID NOTHING to deserve it and we can DO NOTHING to receive it. It’s only by believing and accepting, do we find the love of Christ.
Today, we remember Christ’s love for us. John wanted to tell the world when he wrote his gospel, and we need to join with him in sharing His love.
If we share his love, we’ll here Christ one day say, “well done, good and faithful servant!”
As we light the candle of love, let us remember that God’s love is unconditional and it never condemns. His love is for everyone. It is there to simply believe in and freely receive. In return, we simply share that love with those around us.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, we thank you for loving us. Thank you for sending your Son to bring us freedom. A freedom we don’t deserve or earn. We ask that Your love become known to us and throughout the community – not to condemn, rather, to build up and encourage. Continue to be the source of our love this Christmas as we celebrate with family and friends, and remind us of the eternal and perfect love we have to look forward to in heaven. In Jesus name, Amen.
